Mike White made an impressive season debut Sunday as the Jets beat the Chicago Bears 31-10. White completed passes to 10 different receivers, finishing 22 of 28 for 315 yards and 3 touchdowns.
White Starts, Sparks Jets’ Offense
Zach Wilson, who had started 7 of the Jets’ 10 games this season, was replaced by White in an attempt to get the Jets sluggish offense rolling. White did the job from the start. On the Jets’ first possession, he led the team’s first opening drive touchdown of the season.
On VSiN’s “The Lombardi Line,” former NFL General Manager Michael Lombardi spoke about how he would handle the quarterback situation.
Wilson, the second overall pick in last year’s draft, comes more highly touted. White was a 5th-round pick in the 2018 draft, but he didn’t make his NFL debut until last season with the Jets. Sunday marked White’s fourth career NFL start.
According to nfl.com, White is the only Jets QB in the last 30 years to have multiple games of 300-plus passing yards and 3 or more passing TD’s. White now has 2 such games, the first being last season’s week 8 win over the Bengals.
