Saturday Betting Recaps

Saturday was a wild sports betting day with action in baseball (pro and college), WNBA, soccer, golf, UFC, etc.

 

For our purposes here, we’re going to stick with the full slate of 15 MLB games – highlighted by the Angels exploding for 25 runs on Saturday night – and the College World Series Championship Series and the USFL playoffs.
Let’s get the details with our daily recaps, plus also update the season-long betting stats, including the USFL with its playoffs continuing on Sunday.

MLB: Faves went 9-6 Saturday including the Angels in their 25-1 rout at the Rockies as -150 road faves in the last game of the night. The biggest upsets were by the Royals (+211 in 9-4 win at the Rays), Nationals (+162 in 2-0 win at the Padres) and Tigers (+145 in 3-2 win vs. the Twins). Home teams went 9-5 with the Cubs-Cardinals game being played at a neutral site in London). Overs led 8-7.

More MLB: On the season, favorites lead 665-469 with 18 games closing pick-’em. Home teams lead 604-545 with 3 neutral-site games after Saturday’s Cubs-Cardinals game in London. Unders still lead 558-549-44 with 1 no-action.

CWS: No. 5 LSU beat No. 2 Florida 4-3 in 11 innings on Saturday in Game 1 of the best-of-3 College World Series Championship Series. The Tigers did it as +115 underdogs in Game 1 (still stayed Under closing betting total of 9.5 runs).

USFL: Pittsburgh Maulers beat the Michigan Panthers 31-27 in OT of the first USFL semifinal on Saturday night in Canton, Ohio. The ViewFromVegas is the Maulers ended up covering after closing as 3-point favorites thanks to the OT scoring rules using 2-point conversions (game went Over the closing total of 37 points in a game that was a defensive battle and turned into a shootout in the 4th quarter).

More USFL: Favorites start the playoffs 1-0 SU and ATS, plus Overs start 1-0. On the season, including the 10-week regular season and the playoffs, underdogs still lead 27-14 ATS (65.9%) and actually also lead 22-19 SU. Unders still hold a slim lead at 22-18-1 (55%).
